The Threat of Radon Lung Cancer in Knoxville, TN

Radon Lung CancerRadon lung cancer is a serious concern for those living in Knoxville, TN. We all have heard of how terrible radon gas is, but you may not know about how many are directly affected by it each year. Radon gas comes from the soil, and depending on where your home is, you may be placed just above an area of high concentration. If this is the case, and your home has high levels of gas, it is almost promised that you will need a mitigation system installed.

If you own a home, then it is important that you make sure to test your Tennessee home often, and have an air purification system installed if your levels are high. If you are renting a home, then you may or may not be able to have the means of installing a mitigation system. It does not make a whole lot of sense to invest in a property that you will not own at the end of the year.

The American Lung Association is proud of the actions taken by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development that will help solve all of this. The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, or HUD is now making it a mandatory action for all multi-family homes financed through them to have a radon test. In addition, any multi-family homes that are financed through HUD that return high levels of gas will be required to have a mitigation system installed.

Applauds from the American Lung Association on Radon Lung Cancer Reduction

Together these organizations are dedicated to improving the health of those affected by radon gas, and other factors that harm health. The dedication to improving Knoxville, and national home safety is evident, as HUD has taken such a strong stance to reduce radon lung cancer.

S.W.AT. Environmental is glad to help in the efforts of reducing the radon gas levels in homes across the Knoxville area. We know that we can improve the overall health of a home with our efforts, and our proper installation of radon mitigation systems. We look forward to reducing radon lung cancer in Knoxville, and hope to work with HUD, landlords, homeowners, and others to improve the health of homes.
